Budapest- Hungary/ Vienna- Austria/ Prague- Czech Republic
Ok my first ten day vacation.. woof. Sooo amazing. So we left on Saturday morning at 10 am. Me
and lisa were running a bit late (shocker) but we made it we just couldnt wait to get on another
18 hour bus ride. and i know what you are thinking.. why after romania would we do that to our
selves? we aren't one hundred percent sure but i think that the pain and anger was so high that
it was blocked out so we thought it would be different this time.. Well it was still 18 hours.
There was only 7 of us so that was already better because it wasnt soo many annoying americans
all at once. But those ukranians can get just as annoying. you just dont know what they are
saying. So we get driving right, ok well it takes me and lisa about 30 minutes to get to the
train station where the bus met us. Well as we are driving through kiev dont worry we pass
RIGHT PAST OUR APARTMENTS. so all that running late was for nothing. Well nothing really exciting
happened on our way there. Except ok so 18 hours to get there right so we took some amazing
sleeping pills so we could actually sleep, well when you get to the border you have to hand them
your passport like 5 times, well when you are on those sleeping pills what a joke. lets just say
most of us dont remember much of the border but when we do piece things together. we laugh our heads
off. Well so that 18 hours doesnt include the boarder which is how they get ya. in europe they say
sitting at the border anywhere from 1 hour to 8 hours. SHOOT ME IN THE FACE. so ours this time was
3 hours getting over the ukranian border than another 2 to get over the hungary border. 5 hours.
just sitting. ok so 10 ish in the morning we arrive in Budapest we walk around and just enjoy the
beautiful weather and scenery but let me remind you.. we havent showered yet. so our excuse our pictures
so for the most part we just want to get to our hotel and shower (little did we know what was awaiting for
us) so we walk around by ourselves and nothing is in english so we make up our own stories for the
monuments including things about jasmine, hercules, and aliens. (we like our stories way better anyways)
So then our tour guide tells us (barely) that we have a walking tour. So we are like ok we will follow
whatever. well they take us to the exact spots that we had just seen and we still dont know what is
going on because no one speaks english not even our tour guide so we decided screw that so we layed
out in some park. then we get in the bus thinking sweet hotel get me in a shower and then i am out again
nope. a castle a beautiful castle but still feeling just so clean and pretty. So we walk around there
the few people who speak english tell us that we need to meet at this spot in a couple hours. So we do
our thing then go back to the spot and there is only half our group there. Well we wait for like an hour
and then finally our bus driver comes over yelling in ukranian (which never sounds nice) we follow him
to where we were really supposed to meet. The other ukranian tourist look at us and point to there clock
all pissed. um hey lady. no one speaks english how are we supposed to know where to meet? yeah that's
right. so she got a special name from us.. nazi lady. So then we get on the bus and they are like ok hotel
SWEET. its like 4 so we are like k hotel then back in the city for our only night here. So we are driving
and an hour later we realize we are going up and down the same street. So 2 and a half hours later we stop
and everyone gets out. Well i am walking around and the sign says Sport hotel 800meters that way.
So i tell the bus driver and he is like we cant get down the street where the hotel is supposed
to be because there is no way to turn around if its not the right way. Im like ok but the sign says its
there... So he is like we are getting a person from the hotel to come show us how to get there. Five minutes later
the hotel person comes and sure enough its 800 meters (litterally 5 minutes down the road) are you
kidding me? we could have gotten there 2 hours ago mr bus driver. So by that time it was too late to get
to the city so so long budapest you were pretty for a second. So the beautiful Sport hotel.. O boy.
We walk in and me and lisa get paired up together. well mallory wanted to see if she could be in our
room because some other people had 3 to a room. So mallory then never even gets put into a room so she
just follows us to room, We walk in and i was terrified. Well one, there was 4 beds in our room so
that was good. but o my this room. was a joke. I thought i was going to cry. The lobby looked like
it had been abanded for 40 years and they opened it just for us. Dust was on everything but they didnt
have anything. There was no elevator it reminded me of like a haunted house green carpet dark wood furniture
velvet of course. The room looked like rats were living there before us. we had a balcony because we were on
the second floor and when we walked in the balcony door was wide open and the stairs leading up to the
door was cement on their so called wood flooring. The toilet had a string hanging from the ceiling to
get it to flush. Then i was like ok we need water i have my filter water bottle so ill fill it up no
big deal. WRONG. i put it under the sink and it was brown. not like o orangey no. brown. i dumped that out
so fast. After we showered we smelled worse than before. ok this was worse then girls camp.. thanks to my
dad he made girls camp look like the grand america hotel compared to this thing. So we hadnt eaten yet
so we had our boughten noodles but we didnt have any warm water. so i went down the the receptionist and
asked her for a kettle for tea. she looks at me rolls her eyes, stands up growls (litterly growls) and comes back.
sorry kettle nazi lady i made you work. lol so we just decided lets just go
to sleep get this night over with please. So the next day we wake up early and head out of budapest and into
vienna. ohh vienna how you have my heart. So we get to vienna and they drop us off at some building (once again
i have no idea because they dont speak english) But it was beautiful.
Our tour guide told us we had to stay
with him today because of yesterday being late. well they are doing their tour guide in ukrainian so we are
just talking and laughing and they got mad at us for being too loud shocker we dont want to listen to
nonsense. Well we turned around and saw starbucks and we were gone. Then we kept walking and the doors of
heaven opened up to me. Tiffany and co, Burberry, Gucci, Armani, Chanel, Louis Vetton, all stores were there.
WOOF. So then we are just admiring all of it when we see H&M, i dont think i have ever ran so fast in my life.
So we shopped there for a while tried on a million things, were trying to figure out the exchange rate all that
fun jazz. Then we went souvineer shopping and then had to say goodbye to vienna. We didnt spend a night in Austria
because it is so expensive to stay there. So we get on our awesome bus and head to Prague, Check Republic.
We arrive in Prague Monday March 26. We arrived at our hotel around 7ish. We were hoping that we were in the city
dare to dream becki. i should really stop getting my hopes up. We pull up to the neon sign GOLF HOTEL. i laughed
for a straight 10 minutes. we get out and go to the lobby once again me and lisa are roomed together and
mallory wants to be in our room so instead of making the same fit we did last time we just decide to just have her
come with us with out telling anyone. So they give us our room key and they are like ok.. outside around the back of
building.. so wait im not even in the hotel im in the forest is what you are saying? So we take our crap and
go to the back building. walk in and this hotel was a lot nicer thank goodness. So we just chill in our hotel
for a bit then go to bed. So the next morning we get up and go to the hotels breakfast. of course meats galore
we live on mostly bread. So we eat and then Steal some bread for the road. We head out with some other people in our
tour group thinking they knew the way better than we did. wrong. Remember the 800 meter bus story? Same thing.
These ukranians are idiots. i know the metro system better than you and i have only lived it for two months
you have your hole life. prague and kiev same metro system. not so hard Ice queen nazi. (yes we named her after
narnia) we learned our lesson the hard way. but good news another H&M right by our hotel. So we go into the center
and they showed us where to meet them 3 hours later. so we ditched that crew. We went across the famous Charles
Bridge and walked up the beautiful streets of Prague.
We then went back and met up with our group for the walking
tour with an urkanian. Shocker of all shockers. she didnt translate to english and they walked the same way we
just had. so we ditched that crew. We went wandering by ourselves. We went souvineer shopping a little bit. Then
we went away from all the spring break kids and found another H&M. Its like my safe point makes me feel at home lol.
Then we went back to the hotel just chilled planned fun things to do then went to bed. Wednesday March 28 We woke up
ate breakfast stole breakfast and headed out. We went to Charles Castle and saw the cathedral and went to the Toy
Museum. The toy museum was amazing. i Loved it. The toys back then waaaay cooler than ours that is for sure
Then the second floor was All barbies. Flash back to my child hood. Wanna hear the story of Barbie? Well im gonna
tell ya. There is Barbie and Ken. They have a best friend named Midge. Barbie has a sister named skipper. bet you didnt
know that did ya? There was more but i cant remember. We then got on the tram got off found a starbucks of course, tried a
falafel YES I BECKI WRIGHT TRIED SOMETHING. and yeah it was pretty good. We then went to the John lennon wall.
Then we went
to the Torture museum. Ok just stab yourself. It was interesting but really disturbing. if i lived in that town i would
have just lived in a hole and never came out. So by the third floor we were all pretty sick to our stomachs so
we peaced out. Then i spent all my money on souvineer shopping. i bartered (yay me) ok but seriously they were like
sure whatever im like are you kidding me i should have gone lower. whatever. then we saw the official pick pocketers.
and everyone asks did you say anything and it was like ok what were we suppoesd to do yell across the street..
HEY ITS THE PICK POCKETERS! no. they would stab me. So then We went over to the river and just people watched. one
of my favorite things in the world to do. So that was really fun. a world of new people. So then we just went back
to the hotel ate dinner and had some fun.
March 29 2012
Today we went to breakfast aka stole breakfast food. When first walking into the dining room,
the hotel had a chocolate fountain. OH BOY THE HOTEL GOLF HAS GOTTEN CLASSY! nope. wrong again.
come on europe i know you have better chocolate. Anyways.. So we get done and head out, we first go to the Dancing
House. it is a crazy crazy looking building. So we walked just around the river bend and i danced for the cars of
course and behind people without them knowing. So then we saw these weird half blown half bodies statues and took some
pictures with them. We then walked over to the jewish cemetery, we really wanted to go in but it was 300 krones so no
to that one. But we found a nice park bench to sit on, while sitting there some guy turns to us and starts talking to us.
(which happens a lot because when people hear us speaking english they want to know where we are from later finding out, he
is from ny) So we talked to him and he gave us some really good pointers about prague and what to see. He was really
helpful. So mallory bought a dress at H&M in vienna and wanted to return it so we walked back to the H&M (for the 4th time
this week) Well the other store wouldnt return her dress because it wasnt from Czech Republic which is so stupid
because they are all the same store but whatever. So we finally got that all situated and started walking back to the
center to do some last minute shopping, when it started raining. Well let just say we got a little turned around. And
an hour and a half later we finally found the shops. So we got all our stuff and headed back to the hotel. We got back
and ate some dinner then did a little spa/yoga/girls night which was hilarious. My mask freaking ripped off some of my
eyebrows. welp i guess free waxing.. :) So March 30 We wake up super early and head out for our lovely bus ride home
